we are totally into their groove as we really like their open-minded approach and we honestly believe in them. their tunes impress by a really forward thinking attitude and can be played at any time during the night. this is a perfectsummertime single and we just had so much fun playing the tracks out. because to us this is exactly what we call b-boy house.

the environmental radiation dose on the moon ep is the first collaboration between zooloft and aconito records. the two labels are twinned in exploring the limits of techno, experimenting with structures and sequences and ultimately arriving at the place where the deep and dark sublimes. the ep opens with the child that was watching the moon a track lifted right out of the drone-techno hymnal. it starts with muddied, subterranean bass and builds not just outwards but inwards. filled with obtuse references and metallic rasps the atmosphere created is obscure and spectral. on the reverse the moon that was watching the child sounds like its been exposed to radiation. the sounds are distorted, as if created from samples of the genome unzipping. the arrangement is stunning, bells filter in and out and the layers smelt into one another. there is awe at work here, but its an awe that remains underpinned by terror. this release, mastered in berlin at the legendary calyx studio, is something of a record collectors dream. it will be released on solid silver vinyl in a very limited edition of just 200 copies. za000ltd should be enjoyed on wax, this wont be available digitally.

the phrase >tropical< is currently getting used to describe a lot of different music, some good, some bad, some ugly. to save on confusion senseless went out and travelled the world to find some music from the actual tropics, venezuela to be precise. somewhere buried deep in the mysterious rainforest, or possibly just in a studio in caracas, they found pocz and pacheko. it?s so near the equator maybe we can ditch the ?tropical bass? tag and go for something new, >equatorial bass< perhaps? maybe not. pacheko, francisco mejia, will be familiar to some for his solo releases on lo dubs, murder channel, seclusiasis and for his work with legendary venezualan expat cardopusher. his partner in bass pocz (carlos majoral) is a classically trained musician and production engineer. along with a select few others they run abstractor, a collective of producers, artists and designers, who promote parties, run a blog and do a fine job of representing bass music in venezuela pretty much solo. the collective includes graphic artist design or die who is responsible for the incredible artwork and pretty special video for >zarbak<.

ilija rudman shouldnt need an introduction as for the last few years he has been releasing a constant stream of dance music under different guises. an analogue and vinyl purist his productions are always to the highest standard and electric minds is pleased to be working with the croatian producer once again. ilija delivers two bumper tracks for the a side of this release, most definitely a nod to the 80s boogie sound with both productions thumping with bass throughout. for the b side we welcome michael j collins who recently released his ep through electric minds alongside ly sander. since working with electric minds, michael has been extremely busy remixing for the likes of swayzak, moodymanc as well as releasing an ep for hypercolour and working on many more releases for several berlin based labels. michael brings his signature 4/4 house beats to the remix, a raw dubby and psychedelic house take on the original. all in all a great package that is sure to appeal to house and disco heads alike.
